  • Monitor and Guide Industrial Effluent Discharge:
    • Oversee and provide guidance to industrial entities regarding wastewater discharge standards.
    • Ensure industrial effluents comply with environmental regulations and quality control measures.
  • Wastewater Quality Control and Environmental Conservation:
    • Implement and manage wastewater treatment processes to achieve high-quality effluent standards.
    • Advocate for sustainable wastewater management practices to protect the environment.
    • Research and adopt innovative technologies to minimize pollution and optimize resource utilization.
  • Plant and Equipment Maintenance:
    • Maintain and upkeep wastewater treatment plants and their equipment according to established protocols.
    • Ensure the functionality and efficiency of plant systems and machinery.
    • Schedule and perform preventive maintenance to prevent breakdowns and extend equipment lifespan.
  • Recordkeeping and Reporting:
    • Maintain detailed records of wastewater treatment operations and parameters.
    • Prepare comprehensive reports on wastewater treatment processes, performance, and compliance.
    • Analyze data to identify trends, assess treatment efficiency, and make informed decisions.
  • Policy Development and Revenue Generation:
    • Participate in the development of policies for alternative revenue generation from wastewater treatment plants.
    • Explore opportunities to create products and fees from wastewater treatment processes.
    • Identify potential markets for these products and services.
  • Waste Management and Disposal:
    • Properly handle and dispose of all solid and liquid waste generated from wastewater treatment processes.
    • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and waste disposal guidelines.
    • Implement efficient waste management practices to minimize environmental impact.
  • Health and Safety Standards:
    • Formulate and implement health and safety standards for all wastewater treatment stations.
    • Ensure adherence to these standards by staff and visitors to maintain a safe working environment.
    • Maintain access controls and adequate security measures for all treatment stations.
  • Supervision and Performance Management:
    • Supervise and provide guidance to employees assigned to wastewater treatment plants, pump stations, and related sections.
    • Evaluate employee performance and provide constructive feedback for improvement.
    • Implement performance management strategies to foster a productive and motivated workforce.
  • Collaboration and Coordination:
    • Collaborate effectively with Operations Manager – Wastewater and other relevant departments.
    • Coordinate operations across all wastewater treatment stations to ensure seamless and efficient service delivery.
    • Work closely with quality assurance officers to identify and address any deviations in raw water sewage quality.
  • Emergency Response and Public Health Protection:
    • Prepare for and respond to wastewater treatment emergencies, such as spills or equipment failures.
    • Implement contingency plans to minimize environmental damage and public health risks.
    • Adhere to emergency protocols and procedures to ensure the safety of the community.

Requirements

  • Qualifications:
    • Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering, Sanitation, Wastewater, or Environmental Management from a recognized institution.
    • Certificate in Sewerage Engineering or Management from a recognized institution.
    • Registered Engineer with IEK/EBK or equivalent professional body; in good standing.
  • Experience:
    • At least five (5) years of relevant experience in wastewater treatment plant operations and management.
    • Two (2) years of experience in supervisory roles within a busy and dynamic work environment.
